Addaction Cornwall and Isles of Scilly

Addaction is a drug, alcohol and mental health charity. Our aim is to put service users back in charge of their lives. We support people to identify their own goals around behaviour and substance misuse, and then work with them to make them happen.

Addaction Cornwall and Isles of Scilly has bases across the county in Bodmin, Liskeard, St Austell, Truro, Penzance and Redruth. Staff and volunteers at each base support adults to overcome their dependency.

Service users have a named recovery coordinator who will support on a one to one basis. There is also the opportunity to take part in a variety of group sessions and the use of peer mentors and mutual aid is encouraged.

Addaction offers an intensive and inclusive weekly programme of activities at each base where clients can learn a variety of life skills from finance to photography.

Addaction also offers support to families and those affected by other people’s dependencies.

Our specialist Breaking the Cycle programme works on an outreach basis, visiting families in their own homes. It supports and empowers whole families where parents or carers experience substance misuse and have responsibility for children under the age of 18 years. Families engage voluntarily with to focus on reducing harmful behaviours, prioritising children’s healthy development to ensure they are able to thrive and building family resilience. The overarching aim is to successfully break the transgenerational cycle of substance misuse. All interventions are collaborative and generally take place within family homes.

Our offices also operate a needle exchange service.

There is a duty worker at each office so people can drop by without a referral and start accessing support at any time during our opening hours. Or you can contact your GP and ask them to make a referral.
