Helston & Lizard Works’ digital champions support Porthleven Neighbourhood Planning

HLW participants, recently trained as digital champions through the project, used their new skills to support the development of Porthleven’s Neighbourhood Planning. For its second year Porthleven Neighbourhood Planning carried out a residents survey, looking at their priorities for the village as well as views on housing, the  landscape, parking and the coastline.  Our HLW digital champions and volunteers used their newly acquired skills to input and upload all of the data from the questionnaires onto the computer system for analysis.

HLW participants were delighted to help Porthleven and their input not only gave them a feeling of completing a worthwhile task and contributing to the community, but also gave them valuable skills and experience for their CV as they look for work.

Inclusion Cornwall Manager and Helston and Lizard Works Coordinator, Andrea Gilbert, commented “It’s great to see one community project supporting another whilst at the same time equipping local job seekers with experience and skills that will benefit them and their community on-going. It’s a true example of the ethos and success of the Helston and Lizard Works project which is a two way process where individuals enhance their own employability skills by supporting local communities and businesses.”
