The Prince’s Trust Team Programme

The Prince’s Trust Team Programme is a 13 week personal development programme delivered by Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service in partnership with Adult Education. The aim is to increase confidence, motivation and skills and thereby enable young people to move into employment, education, training, volunteering or apprenticeships. It is available at no cost to any young person aged between 16 – 25 who is not in education, employment or training.

Throughout the 13 weeks, the participants take part in fundraising activities to allow them to complete a community project, two weeks of work experience, an action packed residential on Dartmoor and their ‘final challenge’ week during which they fundraise to give disadvantaged members of the community opportunities they wouldn’t normally have.

All those who complete the 13 week programme will achieve a Prince’s Trust qualification in Level One Teamwork, Communication & Employability Skills. They will also gain an accredited First Aid qualification and a Fire Extinguisher training course. Eligible participants can achieve Functional Skills Numeracy and Literacy.

Liskeard fire station 12 June – 8 September and Sam Spooner will be the team leader

Penzance 26 June –  22 September and Andy House will lead this team

Progressions for previous participants have been fantastic with over 90% now in employment, self-employment, training or apprenticeships.
