About Us

A Dedicated Voice for Inclusion in Cornwall
The team is committed to working both on a strategic level and within the community to challenge and reduce the impact of social exclusion.
Inclusion Cornwall will challenge barriers and poor practices, increase understanding and participation, and improve the quality of life within Cornwall. Inclusion Cornwall helps people by joining up organisations and what they deliver, to enable individuals to benefit from more comprehensive support in moving forward with their lives.
It is also responsible for the Inclusion Cornwall Hub, which is a centralised point of information for the Cornwall Works approach, through advice and guidance, and to help people get back to work, stay in work and progress in work.
Our shared vision is of a Cornwall, where everyone has the opportunity, knowledge and support to be the best they can be, to reach their own goals and be economically independent. Where everyone feels part of and contributes to their community, takes responsibility for their actions and understands the impact they have on others and on the environment.
Our Chairs
Mike Thomas has been Chair of Inclusion Cornwall since 11 July 2018, in addition to his roles as Helston Town Councillor and Cornwall Councillor. Inclusion Cornwall has worked with mike for many years, and he has been heavily involved in our mission of ensuring that no-one in Cornwall is left behind.

Councillor Mike Thomas, our current Chair, says:
I have been aware of Inclusion Cornwall for seven years, initially through Helston and the Lizard Works project in Helston, where I am on the Town Council. Andrea invited me to join the Inclusion Cornwall steering group in 2017, and I was delighted to be asked to become Chair in 2018.
I believe in Inclusion, and making support available to everyone, whatever their needs, in order to achieve that.
High profile issues such as racial inequality are as important to us as the day-to-day poverty, and environmental and economic exclusion, that shuts down so many opportunities for people in our rural areas, and we are working in many areas, as an organisation and with our partners, to bring inclusion.
We are one of the Inclusion Voices in Cornwall, happy to take on any issue where there is a strategic gap based upon on the ground knowledge.
David Sillifant was our Chair prior to Mike taking on the role, and he has this to say about Inclusion Cornwall:
“The primary role of Inclusion Cornwall is to challenge with diplomacy, especially when the system is not delivering as it should be.”
Three times a week we send out an email full of useful information about what is on offer across Cornwall even in smaller rural areas
Katie Ellis at Healthy Cornwall told us
“Thanks for these emails, I just wanted to let you know that they are really useful as they are brilliant for signposting and with targeting specific groups where we overlap. At Healthy Cornwall we’re in a lot of community groups, and it is great when we can let people know about these new projects”
