Social Inclusion
Making all groups of people within a society feel valued and important, and providing rights to all individuals and groups, such as employment, adequate housing, healthcare, education and training.
Here in Cornwall, social inclusion is about isolated rural communities, impoverished neighbourhoods, older or disabled people at home on their own, single parents trapped by family responsibilities and out of work, people who left school without the qualifications to achieve a good job, and many more.
Inclusion Cornwall has tools and partners to work with every individual’s needs, and support them to find a way out of the circumstances that are holding them back.
Promoting Social Inclusion
Working across Cornwall, Inclusion Cornwall has a series of key projects that support groups that can be excluded. We have done extensive work to support homeless people leaving hospital, migrant workers, EU residents wishing to settle in the UK post-Brexit, and more.
Village Works Project
Inclusion Cornwall’s Village Works project in the Helston & the Lizard, Bude and Camelford areas can offer practical training courses, funding for IT equipment, support around medical issues and mental ill health, coaching to tackle the psychological barriers and though processes that are in the way of progress. Bringing services to people, rather than expecting them to travel to the major towns, and supporting people to grow their own communities.
