Survey outlines Cornwall’s preference for inclusion priorities
Inclusion Cornwall recently finished compiling results from two inclusion focused workshops and an online survey both of which were open to all. The surveys were designed to find out where partners and residents wished to focus inclusion activity in Cornwall.
Inclusion Cornwall provides a dedicated voice for inclusion in Cornwall and the team is committed to working both on a strategic level and within the community to challenge and reduce the impact of social exclusion. Inclusion Cornwall’s challenge role is critical at a time of economic and social hardship.
At the Annual General Meeting held in June 2016 we set ourselves the task of identifying three inclusion priorities for Cornwall. Although we know inclusion issues are inter-related and cannot be managed separately we wished to find out how our partners and residents prioritised the issues so that three key priorities could be identified.
We carried out two workshops and an on-line survey. The survey results can be downloaded here.
From both the on-line survey and the workshops the top three priorities are as follows:-
- Mental Health and Mental Wellbeing
- Skills and Education
- People moving away and out of poverty
If we consider the two housing priorities we can establish a fourth priority. The workshops did not focus on skills and education as at the time of the workshops this did not appear within the top three and the workshops felt that housing was a priority.
We will of course continue to focus on the most vulnerable and those with severe and multiple disadvantage, how they access services and also challenging services that are not fit.
