Equality, Diversity & Inclusion training

Cornwall Equality and Diversity Network has commissioned Jude Cook of Equally Simple to deliver wide-ranging Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training, across Cornwall during the rest of 2022.

The one-day course will cover Equality, Diversity and Inclusion awareness, the business case for embedding EDI into an organisation, and unconscious bias. Jude will cover in more depth some areas in which there is current societal concern, and blatant inequity: sexism, misogyny/misandry, violence against women and girls, disability, sexuality and race. There will also be a section on listening, empathy and victim-blaming, so that course attendees are can recognise these issues.

The training will use interactive exercises to illustrate what needs to be addressed in partner organisations and within the County, to focus on real issues and how to achieve positive outcomes.

The course will run on dates between May and November 2022, across Cornwall, taking 1 day, including breaks for refreshments and lunch.

We hope that local voluntary organisations, community venues and businesses will volunteer their meeting room space to host the courses, across the whole of Cornwall.

The requirement for host venues is:

  • Space for 15 attendees, in a well-ventilated and spacious room
  • Ground floor or otherwise wheelchair accessible
  • Covid safety precautions in place
  • Tea-making facilities
  • Toilets on the same level as the meeting room, and accessible for all attendees
  • Parking onsite or near by

If your organisation can offer this for one or more of the planned sessions, please email Jude Cook direct with details info@equallysimple.co.uk

Please also email info@equallysimple.co.uk to be added to a mailing list for details of the dates and venues as they are confirmed.

About Equally Simple

Jude Cook founded Equally Simple approximately 10 years ago, after working within the EDI area for five years before. She has worked and trained with various organisations including Local Government as Corporate Equality Lead, the NHS as Equality and Human Rights Adviser, various charities and CICs, Council members and  FE colleges.

Jude is an experienced facilitator and worked for two years managing projects funded through the Migration Impact Fund.

Jude is proud to say she have been attending CEDN and its predecessors since 2007 (with a spell of chairing and representation at the Leadership Board) on a voluntary basis.

During the first and subsequent lockdowns she took the opportunity to gain deeper knowledge around the existing subjects she trains, and this training has developed from her learning during that time.
