October 2021 AGM

On Friday 8 October, Inclusion Cornwall’s team and a selection of our Members and Steering Group, plus invited guests attended our AGM, at Heartlands, Pool.

Our Chair, Councillor Mike Thomas, welcomed everyone to the meeting, and thanked them for their attendance.

The Inclusion Cornwall Team, with Anthony Ball, rounded up the work of the team throughout the pandemic response last year, and looked forward to the Winter Wellbeing work that will become more important than ever this coming winter.

Guest speakers

Katrin from GCHQ Bude spoke with enthusiasm about the social impact policies that they work to, which led to their support of the Village Works programme in the Bude area. She emphasised that they are seeking to employ there based on aptitude, and to fulfil roles ranging from buildings maintenance to intelligence officers.

Beresford Lee, founder of Black Voices Cornwall spoke with passion about the journey to set up Black Voices Cornwall, and build a viable platform to talk about racial issues in the county. He asked whether we are all racist without intention, and spoke about the action needed to remove casual racism.

Our Vice Chair, Gemma Finnegan, closed the meeting with a glowing summary of our activities, and why what we do is so important.
